Turkish drone terror has become bitter everyday life for the people in North and East Syria. On Monday, the twenty-year-old Kurd Ezîz Selahedîn Şêxo was killed by a Turkish combat drone on the highway between Qamishlo and Hesekê. Since the beginning of the drone war against the self-administered region in the summer of 2020, Turkey has carried out hundreds of attacks with unmanned aerial vehicles. The targets are the civilian population, the autonomous administration and its security forces, and the units of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
In the current year alone, Turkish drones and fighter jets have carried out around 200 attacks. According to the data of the autonomous administration, more than 180 people were killed and injured. Around half of the victims were killed in a wave of air strikes in October that destroyed large parts of the civilian infrastructure. According to the Rojava Information Center, Ezîz Selahedîn Şêxo was the 57th person to be killed by Turkish combat drones this year. The international community is ignoring the attacks.
