Villagers of Soxanekê resist against Turkish bombing

Despite the daily bombardment carried out by the Turkish state, more than 25 families continue their resistance in the village of Soxanekê in Sherawa, province of Afrin.

Since Afrin was occupied by the Turkish state and its mercenaries in March 2018, the village of Soxanekê has been bombarded, while the olive groves in the region are constantly being plundered and burned by the invading army and its mercenaries. However, the resistance of the village people against all kinds of invasion and pillage attacks continues.

Village resident Hesen Cûma Memo, told ANHA: "Our village is bombed all day long, mercenaries affiliated with the Turkish state are trying to occupy the village."

Hesen Cûma Memo said that the agricultural season is almost gone and the lands are right on the front line where the mercenaries are located. He added that the mercenaries burned olive trees and wheat.

Memo said: "We are 25 families, we live under bombardment all day long. This land and country is ours. We will stand against the invasion of the enemy."

Drawing attention to the living conditions in the village, Hemo Berekat said: "Village residents make their living from animal husbandry after planting is over."

Hemo Berekat stated that they took shelter in the caves around the village when the bombardment took place.

Speaking about the continuation of the attacks, Eyşe Memo said, “The gangs have confiscated our lands and olive trees, but they still want to loot more and occupy the regions. They want to spread fear on us through the bombing and drive them out of the village,” he said.

Eyşe Memo stated that the enemy could not achieve their goal and that they would not leave their village.
