'We take our strength from the resistance of our people and fighters'

Girê Spi Canton Council co-chair Hemîd El-Ebid said that the international coalition and Russia are responsible for the Turkish offensive into North-East Syria and the crime of demographic change.

The United Nations (UN) has ignored the principles of defending human rights and respecting Syrian territorial integrity and paved the way for the Turkish invasion in several regions of Syria such as Afrin, Girê Spî and Serêkaniyê.

The Turkish army and its mercenaries are committing crimes of provocation, execution, forced migration, plunder and rape against civilians in Girê Spî as in other areas they have occupied.

Speaking to ANHA, Girê Spi Canton Council co-chair Hemîd El-Ebid condemned the Turkish invasion and pointed out that the Turkish state has committed such crimes to avenge ISIS, which was defeated by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

El-Ebid expressed concern about the crimes of the Turkish state and added that these crimes were also exposed on social media. For El-Ebid, the purpose of the abduction and execution of opinion leaders of the tribes and minors is to displace the local people and to settle families of mercenaries in their place.

El-Ebid remarked that the Syrian government and Russia, which is a guarantor state in the region, have remained silent towards the crimes of the Turkish state and its mercenaries. “Massacres against the local people are still taking place in the vicinity of the M4 Highway. A father and his three sons were murdered in the village of Sefewiye, and a child was killed, and four civilians injured in the village of Dibis as a result of the attacks by occupation forces.

“We take our strength from the resistance of our people and our fighters. We do not rely on the governments, Security Councils and the international community that connive at Erdogan's invasion of our lands,” El-Ebid said.  He added that there was an agreement between Russia and the Turkish state.

El-Ebid addressed the international coalition, saying, “Remember that those who sacrificed thousands of lives to defeat ISIS can save not only North-East Syria, but the whole world.”
