The Turkish state occupied Afrin on 18 March 2018 following a military assault with heavy weapons on January 20, 2018. Women who migrated to Shehba after the occupation of Afrin spoke to ANHA on the anniversary of the occupation and stated that their resistance continues.
"THEY WANT TO SHATTER NATIONAL UNITY"
Xatun Sultan remarked that women condemned the occupation of the Turkish state. "The occupation of Afrin is about to mark its 4th year. We were forced to leave our lands. After the occupation, gangs like Nasır El-Hariri committed brutal crimes. We also do not denounce Hariri's visit to Southern Kurdistan (Northern Iraq). We condemn the head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Masoud Barzani for hosting Hariri. "Why do they want to shatter the national unity of the Kurds?", Sultan asked and recalled that the people of Afrin with their fighters resisted the Turkish state for 58 days.
Noting that their resistance continues even if Afrin is under occupation, Nedime Elo said: “Today we are still resisting like we used to from the very first day. The Turkish state wants to invade not only Afrin, but all of Rojava through its brutal attacks. However, we will resist until we liberate Afrin. "
“NO ONE SHOULD BE DECEIVED BY THE ENEMY'S SCHEMES”
Stating that history repeats itself, Yasmin Qidir said, “The Turkish state occupied Afrin in 2018 with the so-called Syrian Opposition. Today, Erdogan seeks to establish relations with the KDP and occupy other Kurdish lands. We strongly condemn these conspiracies. Nobody should be deceived by the enemy's schemes anymore. The government of Southern Kurdistan should not serve the enemies of the Kurdish people. The Turkish state wants to prevent national unity among the Kurdish people. However, we will end betrayal and instigation and liberate Afrin.”
