Members of the Deir ez-Zor Women’s Committee made a press statement in front of the Women’s House in protest at the increasingly ongoing attacks of the Turkish state and the imprisonment of DTK (Democratic Society Congress) Co-chair Leyla Güven in Turkey.
Condemning the attacks of the Turkish state and allied mercenaries against Ain Issa and the silence of the international community, the women expressed strong opposition to the Turkish attacks targeting the region.
The activists remembered Hevrin Khalaf, a Kurdish politician who was brutally executed by Turkish-backed mercenaries in October 2019. They also condemned the record prison sentence given to Leyla Güven and defined her imprisonment as a hostile policy against the Kurdish people.
The activists appealed to the United Nations and human rights organizations and called for the Turkish state and president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to be brought to justice because of their attacks on North-East Syria.
