Women in Northern and Eastern Syria protest the killing of children

Women in Northern and Eastern Syria protested the killing of children and women and demanded that the murderers be punished.

In many cities of Northern and Eastern Syria, women organised demonstrations and demanded the the killers of children and women to be punished. Women who organized two separate protest actions in Çilaxa and Til Berak condemned the murder of children Eyde El Seido and Aye El Xilêf. Gathering at Çilaxa Municipality Junction, women held banners condemning the killing of women.

Speaking on behalf of the Martyrs' Families Council, Dunya İsmail said that crimes against children are committed against all humanity. She condemned the brutal crimes against women and demanded that human rights institutions take action to stop these crimes. Kongra Star member Semer El Hisên also said that those killing women in the name of “honour” is unacceptable despite the laws that protect women.

March in Til Berak

Kongra Star Til Berak Coordination also organized a protest for the same purpose. Speaking at the action, Henan Silêman, from Til Berak Kongra Star, emphasized that women should increase the struggle against the male-dominated mentality.

Press conference in Manbij

Manbij Social Justice Council and Manbij Lawyers Union condemned the massacres in a joint statement. The statement read by Fewaz El Ehmed, Member of the Social Justice Council, said: "We condemn the brutal murder of Eyde ve Aye in the strongest terms. This savagery has no place either in social morality or in the religion of Islam. The killers should be punished in the most severe way.”

Women should step up their struggle

Sirîn Martyrs' Families Council in Kobanê called for women to unite against the killings. The statement read by Assembly Member Fatime Musa said: “We condemn all kinds of attacks targeting women. This brutality, which is the product of male-dominated mentality and causes many problems in the society. Women should increase the struggle against this mentality that wants to deprive them of all rights.”
