While many civilians abducted by the occupying forces have simply "disappeared", women in Jindires held a protest for their release yesterday.
The Turkish military has blocked all roads to the Jerīn neighborhood in Jindires district of Afrin in recent days and set up checkpoints on all streets. The militias of the Turkish state seize the possessions of the people passing through the checkpoints and abduct civilians under various pretexts.
The occupiers started to demolish homes with construction vehicles a while ago. In the Jerīn neighborhood, dozens of homes were destroyed after the plunder. Several women and men have been abducted and there is no sign of life from most of them.
Local sources report that the health of some abductees has deteriorated dramatically. These include Mustafa Şêx Heyder, suffering from asthma, his paralyzed brother Nihad Şêx Heyder, and Edbo Xelil, who suffers from a sore throat.
Women from Jindires yesterday gathered in front of the so-called "District Governor’s Office" of the occupying forces, carrying banners which read, "We do not accept attacks," "No to atrocity, yes to peace," "Where is justice?" and "Freedom for the prisoners". The protest action was attacked by the occupation forces and some 30 people were arrested.
