Seventy fighters completed their basic training in Raqqa and joined the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The training was dedicated to martyr Şiyar Raqqa at the Military Academy of the 17th Division and lasted 45 days. It covered military and ideological aspects. On Sunday the fighters were sworn in with a special ceremony.
Well-known personalities from society, representatives of tribal associations and members of civil and military institutions joined the celebration. The ceremony began with a minute's silence in memory of those who died in the Rojava Revolution, and was followed by speeches.
SDF commander Şevger Kobanê first congratulated the fighters in his address and then emphasized the importance of the project of the democratic nation for Northern and Eastern Syria. “An essential aspect in the fight against terrorism and for the liberation of the region is to follow the path taken by the fallen and to maintain society's trust in the SDF”, Kobanê said. Sheikh Muhammad Turki Al-Suaan congratulated the new fighters on behalf of all tribal associations and confederations.
