Yazidis from Aleppo: KDP is a complicit in Turkey’s crimes

Yazidis from Aleppo voiced reaction to the escalating attacks of the Turkish state against Shengal and accused the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) of being partner in crimes committed by the Turkish state.

The invading Turkish state continues its attacks against the Yazidis who defeated ISIS putting up historic resistance. The Turkish state, which claimed the lives of numerous civilians in Shengal, killed Merwan Bedel, co-chair of the Executive Council of Shengal Autonomous Administration on December 7, and bombed Khanasor People’s Council on December 11.

Speaking to AHNA, Yazidis living in the neighbourhood of Sheikh Maqsoud in Aleppo condemned the Turkish state’s attacks and silence of the South Kurdistan government.

‘We will defend our identity and lands’

“These attacks aim to break the will of the Yazidi community”, said Yıldız Marko, adding, “The Yazidis will fulfil their duties to protect the Autonomous Administration established in Shengal which was freed thanks to the resistance of the YPG, YPJ, and HPG.” Accusing the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) of serving the Turkish state, Marko stressed, “The Yazidis organising with Leader Öcalan’s thoughts will defend their identities and lands till the end.”

Mêrvan Berekat, another Yazidi citizen living in Aleppo, defined the silence of the South Kurdistan government as complicity in the attacks against the Yazidi community.

Zahide Mihemed called Turkey’s attacks a crime against humanity, saying, “The world must stop the Kurdish bloodshed. The silence of the South Kurdistan government causes the crimes to continue.”
