Young women in Manbij pay tribute to Martyr Zilan

A festival and theatre performances were organised by young women in Manbij in memory of Martyr Zilan.

Young women from Manbij organized a festival to mark the 25th anniversary of Martyr Zilan's action. Many young women attended the festival held at the Manbij Assembly Conference Hall.

Manbij Executive Council co-chair, Nezife Xilo, made the opening speech of the festival, which started with a minute silence. Pointing out that the people of the region have come to the present days by paying heavy prices, Xilo promised to follow the path of the martyrs.

Speaking on behalf of the Zênubiya Women's Community, Nesrin al-Ali said: “Young women are the pioneers of society. They have arrived to this day by overcoming the greatest of difficulties. Despite the mentality that wants to destroy them, women have been able to continue to exist thanks to their strength. And they will continue to exist.”

After the speeches, folklore groups took the stage and the play "Martyr Zilan" was performed by the Young Women's Union. In addition, the Martyrs’ Families Council brought the play "Martyr Woman" to the stage.
