The YPG released the identity of a fighter who was killed in a Turkish drone attack in north-western Syria on Saturday.
The press office of the People's Defence Units (YPG) has published the identity of a fighter who was killed in a drone attack by the Turkish state in the district of Ehdas near Tel Rifat on Saturday. The fallen YPG fighter is Yahya Xidir, an Arab from Afrin, whom the YPG defined as an exemplary patriot who gave his life in the fight for the freedom of the peoples of northern and eastern Syria.
Yahya Xidir was of Arab descent and was born in the Afrin region. He joined the YPG at the beginning of the Rojava revolution in 2012. Just one year later, he took part in the resistance against Turkish-sponsored jihadist structures in Afrin. In 2016, he fought against ISIS as part of the liberation offensive in Shehba, and in 2018 he defended his native city for two months against a war of aggression by Turkey.
Since the occupation and the installation of a terror regime in what was once Syria's safest region, Yahya Xidir has been in action in the greater area of Afrin and Aleppo. The fallen fighter was married with two children.
The YPG expressed condolences to his relatives and the people of northern and eastern Syria, announcing the ID details of the fallen fighter as follows:
