YPG General Command issued a written statement on the anniversary of the attack the invading Turkish state carried out against the Qereçox Mountain and commemorated the martyrs.

The YPG statement is as follows:

“The resistance of peoples against tyranny and oppression will continue, Qereçox will be a legacy for everyone who loves freedom and life.

Today we remember the Qereçox martyrs. Our martyrs have proven to the whole world and our enemies that we will be a shield against terror. As our forces were fighting against global terrorism in Raqqa, declared the ‘capital of the caliphate’ by ISIS, in front of the whole world to see, the Turkish state dropped bombs on the Qereçox mountain where hundreds of fighters and commanders who participated in the operation to liberate Raqqa were positioned.

Like many things the Turkish state does, the attack against the Qereçox Mountain is a violation of international law, and was a message to the terrorists in Raqqa by Erdoğan: ‘We stand with you, we target the command headquarters of the forces who fight you.’

Erdoğan’s tyrannical plans didn’t succeed, but his conspiracies against our people continued. Erdoğan launched barbaric attacks against our people in Afrin with cooperation from Russia, and forcibly displaced the people. That shows that Russia and Erdoğan have put their plans to change the demographic structure of Syria’s conflict zones and other regions in motion. The aim of this plan is to change the demographics, disrupt the balance in Syria, open a new front in Afrin to support ISIS terror in Deir ez-Zor and to damage the democratization project in Syria.

With the terrorist attack on the Qereçox Mountaion and changing the demographic structure, a conspiracy is underway to break the will of the Syrian people for revolution against global terror ISIS and hegemon forces, and systems that impose the oppression in the region.

We have shown the whole world that we will continue our resistance and struggle in the face of attacks and conspiracies against our people and our forces. Terrorist organizations in the region or their tools like ISIS and Al Nusra can’t break our will and strength. We defended human values, and we continue to do so. We will expose the reality of terrorist organizations and the Turkish state to the whole world. In Afrin, the whole world was silent in the face of crimes committed by Erdoğan, who gathers terrorists around him and uses them as a threat against countries and free peoples.

As the YPG, we remember our martyrs once more and promise them and our people that we will avenge them. We will continue our resistance until an equal system that guarantees the common life and rights of the Syrian peoples is constructed. We will march on the path of freedom and continue to fight until we rid Afrin and Deir ez-Zor from terrorists.”
