YPG fighter Agir Efrîn died of an illness in Aleppo on 23 December. According to the press office of the People's Defense Units (YPG), Agir Efrîn's real name was Mihemed Ebdilrehman and he came from a patriotic family from Afrin. After the occupation of his homeland by the Turkish state in spring 2018, he joined the YPG to liberate Afrin and take revenge on the occupiers.
"In his feelings and thoughts, the anger towards the occupiers continued to increase day by day. He transformed this anger into revolutionary strength. He stood by his task and responsibility until the last moment of his life. We commemorate Şehîd Agir and all those martyred and offer our condolences to his family and all our people,” the YPG said.
