Official Spokesman for People’s Defense Units (YPG) Nûrî Mehmûd spoke to YPG Press Office regarding Turkey’s attacks and invasion attempts against Efrîn and Idlib.

According to YPG Spokesman, “Turkish occupation of Syrian lands has two goals. First; to capture some parts of Syria and engage them to Turkey, just like how it did before in Northern Cyprus and İskenderun. The second is to block the rise of a democratic society that ensures the rights of the people in order to preserve its status.”

Nûrî Mehmûd underlined that “The Turkish army is not legitimate here. The militias that are directly tied to Turkey and being paid by Turkey, most of them remnants of the terrorism, that once ruled large areas, are not the decision makers in the fight against YPG, YPJ and the Rojava revolution.”

YPG Spokesman pointed out that the ongoing attacks against them are the attempts of maintaining the rulership and status by Turkey.

“The people will always resist to protect their freedom. What stopped ISIS was the battle of SDF led by YPG and YPJ. YPG, YPJ and SDF, just like how they resisted against ISIS barbarism, are undoubtedly going to resist against Turkish invasion in Efrîn. We resisted in Serêkaniyê and Kobanê and we will resist against invaders with the same faith and devotion."
