YPG: Turkish army and affiliated gangs continue their attacks

The invading Turkish army and allied gangs continue their attacks and violations against the lands of Rojava.

YPG Press Office released a statement about the ongoing attacks and violations of the invading Turkish army and allied gangs on the lands of Rojava.

The statement by YPG is as follows;

“In the morning of May 1st, Turkish soldiers opened fire on civilians working by the Tigris River in Ayndiwar village, as result of which one civilian got wounded.

The same day, Turkish army increased its activities on the western border of Kobanê. Turkish troops dug an underground emplacement and stationed heavy weapons and armored vehicles such as tank and BMB in this area. Turkish army also increased its activities and formed new emplacements across the villages of Medresemel, Alishar and Kikan on the eastern borderline of Kobanê.

Again on the same day, gangs affiliated with the Turkish army also increased their activities across Efrîn's Ayn Daqne village and attempted to attack the YPG positions. YPG forces responded to the gangs, as result of which one member of the gangs was killed and one other was wounded.

In the evening hours, gangs launched howitzer attack on Mariske region of Efrîn's Shera district, Gobele, Zirgate, Basile areas of Sherawa district and the Refugee Camp near the Sherawa district. The howitzers fired on Mariske and the Refugee Camp hit civilian areas, resulting in civilian casualties.

At the night hours, gangs attacked Efrîn's Maranez, Ayn Deqne and Belune villages with howitzer, mortar and DShK fire.

On May 2nd, Turkish army-affiliated gangs stationed north of Idlib attacked the village of Iska in Efrîn's Cindires district with mortars, which inflicted damage on civilians' houses. On the other hand, Turkish Unmanned Aerial Vehicles flew over the area from Sherawa to Qastela at noon. YPG forces responded to the attacks, which left two members of the gangs dead.

At the night of the same day, at 00:00, Turkish soldiers captured civilians who attempted to cross the border illegally. The captured civilians were tortured and two of them were murdered by Turkish soldiers.

At 14:00 on May 3rd, clash erupted between YPG forces and Turkish soldiers on the borderline west of Kobanê. While the confrontation lasted for around an hour, details on its outcome couldn't be obtained. During the course of the fighting, Turkish jets and reconnaissance aircraft flew over the eastern borderline of Kobanê.

Turkish army-affiliated gangs north of Idlib attacked the Iska village in Efrîn's Cindires district, and the Maranez and Ayn Daqne villages east of Efrîn from Azaz region.

At between 18.00-20.00 in the evening, gangs affiliated with the Turkish army attacked the Qastel hill in Efrîn's Shera district with howitzer and mortar fire.

Concurrently with the attacks, Turkish aircraft flew over Efrîn's Bilbilê and Shiye district's borderline with Bakurê Kurdistan.

On May 4th, a Turkish drone flew over YPG positions between Amûdê and Dirbêsiyê. The drone was hit by YPG and downed onto the northern side of the border. The same day, Turkish jets flew over the borderline west of Kobanê.

In the evening of the same day, gangs affiliated with the Turkish army attacked Ayn Daqne village of Efrîn with howitzers.”
