The YPJ General Command said in a statement that “the invading Turkish state and its mercenaries are attacking the land of Kurdistan and Rojava Revolution continuously and brutally. The invading and mercenary Turkish state is carrying out all these attacks in front of the international community in order not to lose its power. The Rojava Revolution, which was led by the strength and will of women and saved all humanity from ISIS gangs, has always been the target of the invading Turkish state. But as YPJ forces, we will not remain silent to these attacks and threats, and we will not back down from our determination to protect and expand the revolution."

The statement continued: "The invading Turkish state carried out an armed drone attack on a vehicle in Qamishlo on 30 May, and our friend Mizgîn Botan and valuable patriot Kesra Melek fell as martyrs in this attack."

The YPJ added: "Our friends Dicle Cûdî and Hêvîdar Dirbesiyê were also injured in the attack. We express our condolences to the families of Mizgîn Botan and Kesra Melek. We promise to achieve the goals for which our martyred friends sacrificed their lives, and we wish a speedy recovery to our comrades Dicle Cûdî and Hêvîdar Dirbesiyê.”

The statement said that “Comrade Mizgîn Botan (Rahime Xezalî) joined the YPJ ranks upon the call for mobilization during the heavy war in Rojava. Being from the city of Salmas in Rojhilatê Kurdistan, Comrade Mizgîn Botan grew up in a patriotic family. With the love of country, the search for a free country and a free life is always growing. Comrade Mizgîn felt great happiness when the Rojava Revolution took place. When ISIS gangs attacked Rojava, Comrade Mizgîn went to Rojava and took her place in the revolution.”

The statement continued: “Comrade Mizgîn took part in every front where there was resistance. A defender of the ideology of women's freedom, she had a life with a great and meaningful spirit of comradeship.

As YPJ forces, we express our condolences to Comrade Mizgîn's family and state that it is our comradely duty to avenge the martyrs. Just as Comrade Mizgîn fought to protect and expand the Rojava Revolution, we will resist and defend our country against all kinds of attacks and threats against our revolution, land and existence. In this process of attacks and threats against our land and our people, our people should show their patriotic stance more than ever.”
