Democratic Society Academy opens in Hasakah

The “Martyr Ruken” Democratic Society Academy has been opened in the Hesekê province.

The Democratic Society Academy held a ceremony in the Hesekê (Hasakah) province for the opening of the Martyr Ruken Academy.

Dozens of residents of the region, students in the academy and intellectuals attended the ceremony.

Hesekê Canton Assembly Co-chair Ebulxenî Oso spoke in the ceremony and commended the opening of the academy, while calling on the people to participate in the education terms. Oso stated that education is the foundation of an organized society.

Helime Ehmed from Kongreya Star Hesekê administration pointed out the importance of education in society and stated that women need to increase their level of education and take part in the construction of a moral and political society.

Co-chair for the Democratic Society Academies in the Cizire region Ezi Elî stated that the academies are opened to serve the education of the people.

The gates of the academy were opened by the wife of Martyr Wehîd Xelil.

The ceremony concluded with the halay danced by the participants.

YPJ fighter Rûken Ebdulxenî Oso (Rûken Mêrxas) had fallen martyr on July 13, 2016 during the operation to liberate Manbij.
