Alliance of Women comes to life in Kurdistan Region

In Hewler, in South Kurdistan, a large number of women’s organisations and many women activists, in cooperation with Women’s High Council and the We Are Present for Human Development organisation promoted by the NPN in Norway, announced the formation of the Women’s Alliance in the Kurdistan Region.
Stating that the alliance is made up of women living in four parts of Kurdistan, Bahar Eli Kadir, one of the founders of the newly established Women’s Alliance said: “A large number of women’s organisations and women activists are part of this alliance which aims at building a united organisation to solve all kind of problems. Through this alliance, we want to secure the rights of women in the Kurdistan region.”
Bahar Eli Kadir added: “We formed an alliance in order to change women’s living conditions and monitor the laws on women. We want to know what the South Kurdistan government does for women in terms of education and employment. We call on women to enhance solidarity. We should work in cooperation with women’s organisations, Women’s High Council, political parties within the government, Institution for the Prevention of Violence Against Women and all concerned parties.”
