The resistance led by the guerrillas of YJA Star (Free Women’s Troops) in the Medya Defense Zones continues. YJA Star fighter Zelal Cizîr, one of the guerrillas taking part in the resistance, spoke to ANF about the latest situation on the ground.

Stating that YJA Star guerrillas assumed an important role and mission in Avashin, where the war is intense, Zelal Cizîr said, "We also took our place in the war and resistance against the enemy's uninterrupted attacks. Comrades Sara and Ruken in particular showed everyone what level the women's struggle has reached. No matter how challenging the war is, we will raise our resistance to the level of victory and we will never accept defeat. We are aware of our role and mission as women. We are walking in the line created by comrade Beritan.”

The YJA Star guerrilla continued: “Martyr Beritan carried out a great action against the line of betrayal. Today, thousands of Beritans are fighting against the line of betrayal in the same way. In the Botan region, comrade Destan Botan took the same line of resistance of the martyr Beritan as a basis and sacrificed her life in order not to fall into the hands of the enemy. The women's army has reached this stage thanks to our sacrificial comrades. Today, a great resistance is being waged in many areas of Kurdistan, especially in Avashin, Zap and Metina. The women guerrillas taking part in this resistance are also carrying out effective actions against the enemy. It is Leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan) who has brought us to such a strong level against the enemy.”

“As YJA Star guerrillas, it is very important and meaningful for us to be the leading force in the fight against the enemy. The enemy relies on its technical power, but the guerrilla's will frustrates the Turkish state's technique. We will fight until the last drop of our blood for the freedom of Kurdistan and Leader Apo. We will defeat the enemy and make success inevitable."
