The family of Gülistan Doku, whose fate has not been clarified for four years, came to Dersim and stated: "Gülistan has been in the dark for 4 years, let this darkness end".
Munzur University student Gülistan Doku has not been heard from since 5 January 2020. The fate of Doku, who was last seen arguing with her stepfather, police officer Zaynal Abarakov, in front of a bakery, has not been clarified for the past 4 years.
Doku's family traveled to Dersim on the 4th anniversary of the incident. Doku's parents first met with the prosecutor at the courthouse. After the prosecutor’s response that "we are investigating", the family made a short statement at Seyit Rıza Square in the city center.
Sister Aygül Doku said, "Today is the 4th year of Gülistan's absence. In 4 years, only numbers have changed. 1,2,3 years, no Gülistan, 4 years, no Gülistan. Gülistan has been in the dark for 4 years. We have only one demand, which is that Abarakov be tried and questioned. Let Gulistan come out of this darkness. This pain has no religion, language, identity or name. That's why every family with a daughter in this country should embrace Gülistan. We want her to be embraced. Let this darkness come to an end."
The family then met with the officials of the Provincial Security Directorate.
