Female academics at Boğaziçi celebrate March 8 during protest against appointed rector

As the protests against the appointment of AKP member Melih Bulu as rector are continuing, female academics at the university held an March 8 event at the campus of Boğaziçi.

The vigil protest launched by academics against the appointment of an AKP loyalist, Melih Bulu as the rector of the Boğaziçi University by Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has continued today.

The academics gathered in the South Campus square of the university for the 46th time and turned their backs to the rectorate and continued the vigil event.

Today, the female academics at the university held a March 8 vigil. The academics gathered in the South Campus wore purple masks and demanded the resignation of Melih Bulu with banners that read  "We do not accept" and "We do not give up".

The academics also protested against violence against women, femicides, and all kinds of discrimination against women and LGBTI +.

After the event, some academics left March 8 greeting cards sent by the rectorate as well as the banners "We do not accept" and "We do not give up" at the rector's door.
