“The occupying Turkish army continued its attacks against our guerrilla forces uninterruptedly during the month of Ramadan, which coincided with the ceasefire declared by our Party, the PKK, on 1 March,” the HPG said.
Despite the ceasefire declared by the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) on March 1, Turkey continues its attacks against the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq), reported the Press Center of the People's Defense Forces (HPG) in a statement about the current state of war in the region.
The HPG Press Liaison Center statement on Sunday said, “As the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrillas, we wish our martyrs' families and our patriotic people a happy Eid al-Fitr, and wish that this holiday will be an occasion for unity, goodness and social solidarity.
The occupying Turkish army continued its attacks against our guerrilla forces uninterruptedly during the month of Ramadan, which coincided with the ceasefire declared by our Party, the PKK, on 1 March. Our forces gave the necessary response to defend themselves against these attacks.”
The HPG shared the following details about the latest attacks carried out by the invading Turkish army and the guerrillas' response to the attacks:
"Attacks by warplanes
On March 27, 28 and 29, Turkish warplanes carried out a total of 12 strikes, targeting the areas of Girê Zengil, Girê Kun, Deriyê Hirçê, Heftebax, Kanî Sarkê, Deşta Kafya in Garê region 7 times; Girê Bahar Resistance Area in Şehîd Delîl Western Zap region 4 times, Bêşîlî Resistance Area in Metîna region once.
Attacks with heavy weapons, artillery and howitzers
On March 28 and 29, the Turkish army carried out a total of 1076 attacks with heavy weapons, artillery and howitzers, targeting the areas of Berê Zînê, Sinînê, Kendekola, Lolan in Xakurkê region 121 times; the areas of Girê Sîser, Girê Zengil, Dêreşê, Girê Kun, Sêdarê, Kanî Sarkê, Mijê, Girgaşê in Garê region 42 times; the areas of Serê Metîna, Bêşîlî, Şêlazê in Metîna region 44 times; the areas of Girê Bahar and Girê Amediyê Şehîd Delîl Western Zap region 869 times.

On March 27 at 07:05, the invaders who attacked our resistance tunnels in the Girê Amediyê Resistance Area in Şehîd Delîl Western Zap region were responded to with medium automatic weapons.
On March 28, at 15:05, the invaders who attacked our resistance tunnels in Girê Amediyê Resistance Area in Şehîd Delîl Western Zap region were responded to with medium automatic weapons.
On March 29 at 10:40 am, the invaders who attacked our resistance tunnels in Girê Amediyê Resistance Area in Şehîd Delîl Western Zap region were responded to by our YJA Star (Free Women’s Troops) with medium automatic weapons.”
