International delegation of activists visits the YPJ

An international delegation of women from the organization “You Are Not Safe” visited the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ). The meeting focused on women’s joint efforts at the global level.

Activists from German and international movements visited the Women’s Protection Units. The delegation included members of the German organization “You Are Not Safe”, Kira Bououd and Fanny Bantforder; a member of the German committee “Women Defend Rojava”, Lilli Margarita; a member of the European Committee of the Free Syrian Women’s Foundation, Anette Binder; a member of the “Peace Office for Kurdish Women”, Katharina Dressel; members of the radical feminist group, Bodil Riller and Anna Ehrlich; and a member of the “Struggle for a Healthcare System Based on Community Needs”, Agnes Heinzerling.

The delegation was received by the spokesperson for the Women’s Protection Units, Roxan Mohammed; a member of the YPJ military council, Kurdistan Kojer; the head of foreign relations for the Women’s Protection Units, Lina Hussein; and YPJ commander Viyan Adar.

During the meeting, Commander Viyan Adar spoke about the importance of women’s struggle and resistance on a global scale. She emphasized that the Women’s Protection Units draw upon the heritage and experiences of women around the world, particularly in the Middle East, allowing them to develop their work and resistance based on knowledge and science.

Viyan Adar continued her speech by highlighting the role and mission of the Women’s Protection Units in democratizing Syria and safeguarding the achievements of the Women’s Revolution. She particularly stressed the necessity of exchanging experiences and the historical legacy of women’s struggles, as well as fostering joint efforts among women globally.

Roxan Mohammed provided a detailed explanation of the history and struggle of the Women’s Protection Units and answered the delegation’s questions.

At the end of the meeting, the delegation presented a commemorative picture inscribed with “Self-Formation” to the leadership of the Women’s Protection Units. The delegation expressed their happiness and gratitude for this meeting.
