Kurdish female activist Zina Madras Gorj who took part in the women-led protests following the murder of Jina Mahsa Amini in Iran has been rearrested on the grounds of "forming a subversive organization" and sent to Sanandaj Prison. Gorj was arrested by the Intelligence Service on the 4th day of the protests and released on bail after 40 days of detention. Gorj is now accused of "conspiring against national security" and "conducting propaganda against the regime".
According to reports, after her release, Gorj was threatened multiple times by intelligence officers not to participate in the demonstrations. It is reported that Gorj, whose trial is still ongoing, was summoned to the Sanandaj Court but refused to do so. In response, she was taken to prison by the regime forces yesterday, April 10.
In the meantime, it is reported that dozens of people who were jailed pending trial for participation in demonstrations and released following a general amnesty, are facing retrials on the same grounds.
