The ‘We Will Stop Femicide Platform’ (KCDP), which strives to stop femicide and ensuring women’s protection from violence, reported that 20 women were murdered in July.
The KCDP reported that 12 women died suspiciously in the same month. According to the KCDP, 10 of 20 women were killed by their husbands, 2 by their partners, 2 by acquaintances, 1 by a father, and 1 by a relative, 1 by a former partner, 1 by a son, and 1 by a persistent follower. The relation of one woman to the perpetrator could not be determined.
AT LEAST 177 WOMEN HAVE BEEN MURDERED SINCE JANUARY
According to KCDP data, at least 177 women have been murdered since the beginning of the year.
In June, 18 women were murdered, 20 others died under suspicious circumstances.
At least 84 women were murdered in January, March, April and May. The KCDP did not report the data for February, saying “nobody should get used to the numbers”.
The platform reported that 300 women were murdered by men in 2020.
