Kevana Zêrîn holds its second conference

The 2nd Conference of Tevgera Çanda Jinên Kevana Zêrîn was carried out in Media Defense Areas. It was said in the final declaration that women should stand up to the use of women as sexual objects under the name of art.

The 2nd Conference of the Kurdish women's cultural movement Kevana Zerin (Golden Crescent) was held in Medya Defense Areas. Kevana Zêrîn's 2-year work report was read at the conference, which was attended by numerous women's organizations and movements and where ideological and organizational conditions were debated. The importance of culture and art in the revolution, the role of women in the creation of revolutionary culture and art, the work conducted, and the defects and inadequacies that emerged were all evaluated.

The final declaration said: "In the spirit of revolutionary people's fight for democratic nation-building and women's revolution, our conference adopted strong choices. Rêber Apo and the martyrs of the Kurdistan Freedom Struggle, who sowed the seeds of truth in the Mesopotamian regions, ignited the culture of resistance. Our conference was dedicated to martyr Sarya Baran and hundreds more nameless warriors. We also dedicate it to the YJA Star-HPG guerrillas, prisoners, women, and our nation, who have battled heroically and decisively in Bazên Zagrosê, Garê, Zendûra, Avaşîn, Heftenîn, and other battlefields up to today.”

ARTISTS MUST HAVE A LEADING ROLE

The political and ideological attacks by capitalist modernity, which targets peoples, were also widely discussed at the conference, which was held under the slogan "We will make the women's revolution culture successful through the revolutionary people's war and under the leadership of women." Kurdistan's cultural and artistic developments, as well as the impact of our artistic and cultural works on society, were also discussed.

The declaration said: “With its concept and ideology, our Leader, who has been held in isolation for 23 years, has paved the way for many different revolutions. As a result, the capitalist modernity and fascist regimes like the Republic of Turkey are implementing isolation strategies against our Leader. We believe that now is the time for freedom. Women artists who participate in cultural and creative activities should have a leading role. They should be the defenders of the revolutionary art movement.

The most important thing a woman can do is to protect herself from the capitalist and authoritarian system that fosters cultural genocide. Because, in these lands, if a woman loses her culture, she loses her existence and identity. Women around the world, particularly in Kurdistan and the Middle East, must resist the male-dominated system that targets them ideologically and physically. The struggle of revolutionary women's culture can put an end to the murder, rape, and abduction of women.

Women wield enormous power, both intellectually and emotionally. To prevent art from becoming a commercial tool, women should speak out against the exploitation of women as sexual objects in the name of art. Capitalist modernity, with its peculiar war policies, fosters particularly liberal characters in the field of art. Every artist, especially women, should fight back against these attacks and refuse to surrender to their depravity.”

WOMEN SHOUT FOR FREEDOM

The following statements were included in the final declaration, which claimed that Kurdish women have had a meaningful struggle in the Kurdistan movement for 44 years and that Kurdish women have been a source of inspiration for the struggle of women around the world: "In Mesopotamia, the cradle of humanity, women are working on a beautiful living with a current philosophy of life. Instead of war and genocide, they will be the cry of freedom, unity, and peace in these regions. As a result, we believe that it is every woman's duty to enrich and liberate life through revolutionary art.

From history to the present, Kurdish women have carried the torch of our journey of life by preserving their people's culture and art. Mesture Xan, Meryem Xan, Sûsika Simo, Eyşe Şan, Delila, and Viyan Peyman, with their words and voices, did not allow us to get disconnected from our historical and social realities. They lived a great and dignified life in the spirit of patriotism and struggle.  We have no choice but to succeed since we inherited their legacy."
