KJK calls on women to practice self-defense and organise

All women should definitely oppose laws such as child marriage, or forced marriage imposed on girls, KJK said.

Kurdistan Women’s Communities (KJK) Coordination called on all women to organize and practice self-defense against the fascist-male system, noting that violence, murder, rape and kidnapping against women has increased.

In the written statement issued today, the KJK Coordination pointed out that violence, murder, rape and kidnapping against women increased.

The KJK's statement said: "The number of murders of women in January 2020 has reached 37. And we know that the number is higher. In Turkey two women are murdered by men every day."

The statement recalled that Gülistan Doku, who disappeared in Dersim, has yet to be found.

"The rape of children in Dersim and Kurdistan - said the statement - is carried out systematically and planned by the state. Child rapists are released. Marriage with the rapist is tried to be formalized despite the young age of the girls. The real circumstanced of the kidnapping of two Syriacs, husband and wife, in Şırnak have still not been clarified. There are new threats against Alevis, and one of the authors of the Madımak Massacre has been pardoned. All of this once again revealed the Turkish state's misogynist, anti-naturalist, racist and nationalist nature."

Self-defense and women

The statement issued a call on "all women, our people, to develop their self-organization and practice their self-defense. Society should teach a lesson to child rapists. Our people should develop their own self-organization. All women should definitely oppose laws such as child marriage, or forced marriage imposed on girls. In order to prevent this law from passing in the Assembly, all kinds of action should be developed."
