KON-MED calls for increased struggle for freedom on March 8

“Only organized women's struggle can change this capitalist and fascist system that brings nothing but pain to all peoples, societies, beliefs and genders,” said KON-MED on the occasion of International Women's Day.

The Confederation of Kurdistan Communities in Germany (KON-MED) made a written statement on the occasion of March 8, International Working Women's Day.

The statement commemorated fallen women, saying, "Women have been at the forefront of the freedom struggle and have been the main actors not only in the women's freedom struggle but also in the freedom struggle. Today, it is women who defend their peoples on the frontlines, who support the prison resistance with vigil actions, who fight the biggest struggle against occupation, colonialism and isolation policies on the streets."

"This struggle is also a fight against war, genocide, ecological plunder, rape and femicides caused by the capitalist world system," the statement emphasized, adding, "Only organized women's struggle can change this capitalist and fascist system that brings nothing but pain to all peoples, societies, beliefs and genders."

The KON-MED statement further included the following: "We know that the women's freedom struggle is getting stronger day by day with the women's libertarian paradigm of Leader Öcalan. For this reason, one of the main conditions for women's freedom is to break the isolation of Leader Öcalan and ensure his physical freedom. Therefore, the struggle against isolation is also a struggle for women's freedom. As we approach March 8, we must take our place in the campaign for Freedom for Leader Öcalan and a Solution to the Kurdish Question, and we must further increase this struggle and break the Imrali isolation system.

At the same time, we must increase our struggle against the isolation, denial and extermination policies of the fascist Erdoğan government and its local collaborators. By building a democratic nation everywhere, we must build free, equal lives and overthrow the patriarchal powers through our struggle. We call on you to be on the streets and raise the struggle for freedom on March 8."
