Nine female prisoners including politicians join the hunger strike in Sincan

Nine more prisoners including Dargeçit Co-mayor and HDP Muş Provincial Co-chair have joined the indefinite-irreversible hunger strike in Sincan Prison.

Nine more prisoners have joined the indefinite-irreversible hunger strike in Sincan Women's Closed Prison which continues since February 23. The number of prisoners on hunger strike in Sincan thus rose to 16.

In a letter she sent from the prison, Sedef Demir stated that they have ended the 5 day-long alternate hunger strike, while 9 prisoners including Dargeçit Co-mayor Zeynep Sipçik and HDP Muş Provincial Co-chair Elif Çetinbaş have joined the indefinite-irreversible hunger strike.

Demir emphasized that the whole world should realize the seriousness and legitimacy of prisoners' demands, and said “Reasons for our hunger strike include the reality of a state that tramples on its own laws, inhumane massacres and the isolation of Mr. Abdullah Öcalan who has undertaken a mission for the freedom of all peoples.”

Demir stressed that the health of the prisoners on hunger strike for more than 45 days has begun to deteriorate, and called upon the public to raise awareness and take urgent action.

Below are the names of nine prisoners that have joined the indefinite-irreversible hunger strike on April 3:

Berin Sarı, Zeynep Sipçik, Elif Çetinbaş, Rojdan Erez, Binnur Yıldız, Şilan Çetiner, Şehrivan Çoban, Şehriban Zuhurli and Sedef Demir.
