A panel on Kurdish women in Europe was organized by the Université Côte d'Azur in Nice, France. Draguignan Women's Initiative members also took part in the panel.
The refugee processes of Kurdish women in Europe, their reasons for migration, their adaptation and organization processes in the countries they come from, as well as their relations with feminist movements in Europe were discussed.
French feminist institutions, the university rector, lecturers, university students and many French people attended the panel.
Döne Güzel, speaking on behalf of the European Kurdish Women's Movement (TJK-E) at the panel, said that Kurdish women resisted by paying great prices and continued: "If the Kurdish Women's Movement has become an example all over the world today, it was with the great prices paid. Today, we lead women's movements, especially in self-defense, free cohabitation, and jineoloji.”
Zozan Kalkan, speaking on behalf of the Draguignan Women's Initiative, explained the organizational model of TJK-E. Kalkan said, “As Kurdish women, we are based on the democratic, ecological and women-centered paradigm. This means organizing locally. We are trying to respond to women's social, legal and political problems with our communes, initiatives and assemblies."
