The Junts, ERC, Comuns and CUP parties in the Parliament of Catalonia have called for an urgent meeting by Catalonia's Emergency Humanitarian Aid Committee (CCAHE) due to the intensifying conflict in Rojava.
MPs Francesc Dalmases (Junts), Ruben Wagensberg (ERC), Andrés García (Comuns) and Laure Vega (CUP) held a joint press conference in the Parliament of Catalonia and said, “The worst times of 2024, the most violent year of the conflict, are happening.”
Stating that the capture of Aleppo by the HTS is a new stage in the Syrian war, the MPs noted that the gangs are gaining control of more areas and clashes have led to the second-largest wave of migration. The MPs drew attention to the humanitarian crisis in the region and called on the Catalan government to take action, especially in the context of humanitarian aid.
The MPs called on the government to convene the Emergency Humanitarian Aid Committee of Catalonia and urged the government to pay attention to the Kurdish Red Crescent organisation Heyva Sor, which has set up temporary refugee camps for those who are on the road again.
Cengidar Seyhdamar, Representative of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria in Spain, pointed out that a great human tragedy is taking place as a result of the attacks carried out by the gangs and said, “I would like to call for a stop to the massacres against our people, our democracy and our existence. All forces should condemn these attacks against human rights all over the world.”
