PUK Leader Bafel Jalal Talabani welcomes the agreement signed in Damascus between SDF commander Mazloum Abdi and Syrian Interim Government President Ahmed al-Sharaa.

PUK (Patriotic Union of Kurdistan) Leader Bafel Jalal Talabani welcomed the 8-point agreement signed in Damascus on 10 March by Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) General Commander Mazloum Abdi and Syrian Interim Government President Ahmed al-Sharaa (Mohammed al-Jolani) signed an eight-point agreement.

"This is an important and valuable step that will strengthen coexistence and solidarity in the new Syria," Talabani said.

The agreement includes critical provisions, particularly ensuring the constitutional rights of Kurds, integrating military and civilian institutions into the central administration, and facilitating the return of refugees to their homes.

Talabani welcomed the agreement and expressed hope that it would mark a new beginning.  He said: "I sincerely welcome the agreement reached between Mr. Mazloum Abdi and Ahmed al-Sharaa. This is an important and valuable step that will strengthen coexistence and solidarity in the new Syria. It is the most effective path toward ensuring political stability and security. From the very beginning, we have emphasized the necessity of such steps, and we will continue to work in this direction.

We hope that this step, which protects the rights of our people in Rojava and all communities, will serve as a new beginning for building a democratic country. We wish for the start of a struggle and partnership process based on the demands of the people and a constitutional framework.

As always, I support my brother Mazloum Abdi in his efforts to bring peace and stability to the region."
