RJAK announced that it has launched a campaign to send letters to the UN to protest the heavy isolation imposed on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
RJAK announced that it has launched a campaign to send letters to the UN to protest the heavy isolation imposed on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
The Kurdistan Free Women's Movement (RJAK) published a press release titled "Leader Abdullah Öcalan's Right to Hope" in Sulaymaniyah.
The press release, read at a press conference in the South Kurdish city, stated that a campaign to send letters to the United Nations (UN) was launched by women to protest the heavy isolation imposed on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan. The campaign started on Tuesday and will continue until 25 April.
Those who want to participate in the campaign can send letters and video messages in both Kurdish and Arabic by post or email.
Making a statement on behalf of RJAK, Çiro Şiwani said: “Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan has been held in prison under severe isolation conditions for 25 years. Keeping Leader Öcalan in prison means trying to destroy the Kurdish people and their history. We will never be silent about this. Leader Öcalan's paradigm is a paradigm based on women's freedom and based on nature and humanity. The slogan 'Jin, Jiyan, Azadî' takes its origin from Imralı. Not only Kurdish women, but all women in the world re-created themselves with this slogan.”
Pointing out that the severe isolation that has been imposed on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan for the last 2 years has worsened and he has been prevented from meeting with his family and lawyers, the statement said: “As RJAK, we are sending letters to the UN with the slogan 'Leader Abdullah Öcalan's Right to Hope' to protest this aggravated isolation. We announce the launch of the campaign. We call on all women who support and defend freedom, especially those from South Kurdistan, to join the campaign. Don’t remain silent against the severe isolation and crimes against Leader Öcalan.”
