Turkey bombed the village of Tal Shair (Til Şeîr) ten kilometres northwest of Tirbespiyê in the canton of Qamishlo and simultaneously attacked a car on the road to Beyandor with a drone on Tuesday, June 20. The drone attack killed the co-chair of the self-government in Qamishlo Canton, Yusra Darwish (Yusra Derwêş), her deputy Lîman Şiwêş and the driver, Firat Tûma. Qamishlo Canton Administration Co-chair Gabi Shamoun (Gabî Şemûn) survived the attack with injuries.
The Kurdistan Free Women's Movement (Rêxistina Jinên Azad ên Kurdistanê-RJAK) made a written statement paying tribute to the victims and vowing that “we will shatter the dreams of the enemy.”
“We reiterate that we will continue our struggle along with our people in the footsteps of Yusra and Liman against the attempts to invade our country and break the will of our people. Terror attacks against Kurdish patriots cannot intimidate us. On the contrary, they will only strengthen us. To reconsolidate our will in the struggle for freedom and to shatter the dreams of the enemy, we will be encouraged by the price our friends had to pay,” said the RJAK statement on Wednesday.
The statement added: “Comrades Yusra and Liman trained many women with their free will against betrayal and occupation, and they maintained their struggle on the same line. We once again condemn the attacks carried out by the invading fascist Turkish state against revolutionary women in different places and countries.”
