The spokeswoman of the Free Women's Movement (Tevgera Jinên Azad - TJA), Ayşe Gökkan was taken into custody after an arrest warrant was issued by the 9th Heavy Penal Court in Diyarbakır (Amed) during a hearing held on Wednesday.

The TJA official is accused of "directing a terrorist organization" and "membership in a terrorist organization".

Arrested during a raid in her apartment in the central Kayapınar district of Amed, she was taken to the anti-terror branch of the police department on Wednesday.

Gökkan appeared at the 9th High Criminal Court in Amed this morning and was remanded in custody after the verdict was read out.
