TJK-E calls on people to join actions in Strasbourg and Berlin

“Today when the hunger strike has reached a critical level, support actions are crucial and must be organised everywhere. It is important to embrace this resistance which will surely win."

The European Kurdish Women's Movement (TJK-E) issued a statement on the actions prompted in Strasbourg and Berlin.

The TJK-E said: “Leyla Güven, Nasır Yağız are on hunger strike as are comrades all over the prisons and in Strasbourg, Germany, the Netherlands, England, Wales, Canada, Austria and Switzerland.

The main aim of the hunger strikers is the elimination of isolation against our leader, and the respect of universal and legal rights.”

The statement added: “Today when the hunger strike has reached a critical level, support actions are crucial and must be organised everywhere.

It is important to embrace this resistance which will surely win. The demand of the hunger strikers has been voiced by millions on 8 March and Newroz internationally.”

The statement condemned the silence of European institutions, particularly the Council of Europe and the CPT, “that are partner in crime as long as they remain silent. We will continue to promote solidarity actions all over.

The hunger strike resistance has reached a critical stage. Everyone has to act with a spirit of mobilization. All of our people should join this process. As the Kurdish Women's Movement of Europe, we invite all our people, especially women, to participate in mass sit-in and hunger strike in front of the European Council in Strasbourg and the Federal Parliament in Berlin on 1 April.”
