The Kurdish Women's Movement in Europe (TJK-E) is calling for protests against the Turkish attacks on Rojava and South Kurdistan.
The coordination of the Kurdish Women's Movement in Europe (TJK-E) is calling for widespread protests in light of the massive Turkish attacks on Rojava and South Kurdistan. The coordination of the TJK-E said: "The fascist Turkish state is trying to distract from its own deadlock and crisis by continuing its attacks on Qamishlo, Kobanê, Manbij, Dêrik, Til Temir, Girê Spî, Shengal and the Medya Defense Areas."
"Defense against genocide is humanity's duty"
The TJK-E emphasized that these attacks were primarily directed against the civilian population and aimed to destroy "the achievements of the Kurdish people." The statement continued: "The Turkish state ties its existence to the non-existence of the Kurdish people. Everyone must take to the streets against this attitude. Defending our country and our people against this genocidal mentality is a duty of humanity. At the same time, this means defending the women's revolution, defending the country where the slogan 'Jin, Jiyan, Azadî' came to life."
The TJK-E called "for the defense of Kurdistan," and pointed at the international powers in its statement, saying: "We protest and condemn the international powers that open the airspace to the Turkish state. They are responsible for every loss of life. We women will not give in to these attacks by the Turkish state. We will intensify our struggle by taking even greater ownership of Rêber Apo [Abdullah Öcalan]'s resistance in Imralı."
The TJK-E is alluding to the fact that air strikes on Rojava are only possible with the permission of the international anti-ISIS coalition, which controls the airspace over the area.
The TJK-E said: "As TJK-E, we call on all our people, especially women, our friends and all those who stand up for humanity, to defend Kurdistan."
