Women call to join protests on 9 October

Protests are being organised on 9 October in Brussels and Strasbourg to mark the 20th anniversary of the International Conspiracy which led to the capture of Abdullah Ocalan.

Kurds and their friends living in Europe are preparing to rally on the 20th anniversary of the International Conspiracy [against Kurdish People’s leader, Abdullah Ocalan].

The European Kurdish Women's Movement (TJK-E) will take part in the protests organised in Brussels and Strasbourg, on 9 October.

TJK-E in a written statement about the actions, underlined the importance of the 20th anniversary of the 9 October international conspiracy. The isolation regime imposed on Ocalan, result of a special policy in Imralı, is being developed as a system of torture to all humanity and all the forces claiming for freedom.

With its silence, the CPT (Committee for the Prevention of Torture) has become a partner of this crime by failing to fulfill its duties and responsibilities.

For 3 years Abdullah Ocalan has had no contact with the outside world, no information about the health, safety and life or the leader has been given. Yet the European Court of Human Rights found recently that “Ocalan was not subjected to torture in Imrali”

The European Kurdish Women's Movement in its statement “strongly condemn the isolation as a crime against humanity and reject the ECHR verdict”.

The Women’s Movement issued a call to “all people to join us in the protests organised on 9 October in Brussels and Strasbourg”.
