Women go on hunger strike in Aleppo

"As Konreya-Star, we will continue to live following the ideas of Öcalan, who has reinstated all values destroyed by the sovereign system and led the society towards freedom."

To protest against the isolation imposed on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan a solidarity hunger strike began in the neighborhood of Sheikh Maqsoud in Aleppo.

The action is to support the HDP Hakkari deputy, Leyla Güven, who has been on hunger strike against isolation for over 30 days in Amed prison.

Thirty women from different communities and belief groups living in the neighborhood participated in the action which was launched in front of Women's Education Foundation.

Speaking at the press conference held before the hunger strike, Kongreya-Star executive Fatima Hesen said that all the peoples and beliefs were targeted by the international conspiracy against Öcalan.

Hesen added: "All the conspiracies have been defeated by the resistance.  The isolation imposed on Leader Apo is actually imposed on all the peoples struggling for freedom. As Konreya-Star, we will continue to live following the ideas of Öcalan, who has reinstated all values destroyed by the sovereign system and led the society towards freedom."

Commending Leyla Güven and reiterating that her demands are the demand of all women, Hesen said the action would last 3 days.
