In Basel, activists from the Young Combative Women's Movement (TEKO-JIN) and other internationalists drew attention to male and state violence against women and called for self-defense. During the action at Barfüsserplatz Square Friday afternoon, the activists carried signs with photos and short descriptions of murdered women.
In a speech, the activists referred to the worldwide femicides and called for a common struggle. Women must defend themselves against the systematic attacks and resort to self-defense, the activists said.
The Kurdish Women's Movement in Europe (TJK-E) has initiated the campaign "100 reasons to prosecute the dictator" on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on November 25. The campaign presents the fates of 100 women who have been murdered by the Turkish state. The 100 women are symbolic of countless deaths for which the AKP/MHP regime in Turkey is responsible. The women's movement demands that Turkish dictator Tayyip Erdogan be brought to justice. To this end, 100,000 signatures are to be collected by March 8.
