Women in Stockholm demand freedom for Öcalan

A women's night was held in Stockholm with the slogan "We are Marching towards the Women's Revolution with Jin, Jiyan, Azadî".

Amara Women's Council, which operates in Stockholm, has prepared a women's program for this year's 8 March, International Working Women's Day. A women's night was organized with the slogan "We are Marching towards the Women's Revolution with Jin, Jiyan, Azadî".

After a minute's silence in memory of the Kurdistan Freedom Martyrs, Ayşe Didar's speech on behalf of the Sara organization addressed the women.

Women's struggle is rising like the sun

Ayşe Didar said: "We welcome 8 March in the shadow of war and killings of women, but with the women's struggle rising like the sun against this shadow. Women give hope as heralds of spring and give life its own color against the male-dominated mentality and system that tries to surround and suffocate women and people like a dark winter."

We must mobilize to achieve freedom for Öcalan

Didar said: "Leader Öcalan's freedom is also the freedom of women. The initiative 'Freedom for Öcalan, Political Solution to the Kurdish Question' is of strategic importance. Women must lead and mobilize to achieve freedom for Öcalan. The struggle led by women will put an end to the 25-year-old torture system."

Artists Girin Kasirga, Aslı Yalçınkaya, Yarsan Women's group and Evin Akbaş performed, while Menice Yiğit read the poem she wrote for the mothers of martyrs.

More events between 3 and 10 March

Amara Women's Council planned a series of events such as women's meetings, film screenings, walk-rally, panels, breakfast and theater screening between 3 and 10 March.
