A commemoration event was held in Germany’s capital Berlin for Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini who was tortured to death by the notorious Iranian 'Morality Police', and for those who lost their lives during the ongoing mass protests.
The commemoration event was jointly organized on Wednesday by Feminista Berlin, Women, Life, Freedom Collective, Ceni, Dest Dan Women's Assembly, Women Defend Rojava, Gemeinsam Kämpfen and Ş. Sara Dorşin Commune. A moment of silence was observed during the event.
A speech delivered on behalf of the Kurdish Women's Movement said: “We salute the women who have been resisting the Iranian regime and commemorate the martyrs respectfully.”
Baluchistan activists sent a message to the commemoration, stating that the epicentre of the current resistance is Kurdistan and Baluchistan, vowing to expand the resistance.
Members of Feminista Berlin, Gemeinsam Kaempfen and Sara Dorşin Youth Commune also delivered speeches and sang songs in German.
Poems were recited in memory of Şirin Elemhuli, Ferzad Kemanger, Ferhad Wekili and Eli Haydaran who were executed by the Iranian regime in 2010, and traditional Kurdish songs (Dengbêj) were sung during the commemoration.
The event was concluded with women writing their wishes on scrap papers and hanging them on a tree where Kurdish women's scarves were hung after a cine-vision screening.
