Women meeting held in Osnabrück

A meeting attended by women from different nationalities was held in Osnabrück. Violence against women, inequality and discrimination were discussed, while the importance of women's struggle together was underlined.

An event was held in Osnabrück to mark 8 March, International Working Women's Day. Feminist groups, Women's House, Afghan, Ukrainian, Kurdish and Iranian women attended the event.

Osnabrück Kurdish Women's Initiative shared the brochure it prepared on the Kurdistan-centered earthquake that occurred on 6 February with the participants.

An activist spoke about the experiences of earthquake victims, massacres of women, violence and abuse against children, inequality in working life and politics.

The activist said that Kurdish women seek peace, equality, justice and democracy in the countries they live in, in the Middle East and all over the world. "Let's fight against violence against women and inequalities in all areas of life together. If we can take a united stand, we can address all issues concerning our lives. We should take a united stand against violence against women.”

The activist also touched upon the murder of Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan and Leyla Şaylemez in Paris 10 years ago and said: “We women want to trust the basic laws of the countries we live in and we do not want to be killed.”
