Nobel Peace Prize winner and imprisoned human rights defender Narges Mohammadi announced that the Evin Prison Prosecutor wanted to take the testimony of five female prisoners, including herself, but the prisoners concerned rejected the prosecutor's request.
According to Narges Mohammadi, she and the other female prisoners in Evin Prison, Werîşe Muradî, Pexşan Ezîzî, Mecbube Rezayî and Perîwş Muslimî, were supposed to give a statement to the Ardebil Prosecutor on Monday.
The five prisoners reportedly refused to testify in protest at the death sentences handed down by the Iranian judiciary to female prisoners.
Following the execution of Kurdish prisoner Reza Resayi on 6 August 2024, female prisoners in Evin Prison protested against the execution. The guards attacked the female prisoners and injured many of them.
