Women prisoners support HDP MP on hunger strike against isolation

Female prisoners in the Kandira Prison showed support for Leyla Guven’s resistance and said, “The isolation imposed upon Mr. Abdullah Öcalan must end at once.”

Female prisoners in the Kandira Prison sent a message of solidarity for DTK (Democratic Society Congress) Co-chair and HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) Hakkari MP Leyla Guven’s hunger strike against the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

The female prisoners’ message is as follows:

“Leyla Guven’s demand is our demand.

Our comrade Leyla Guven, who is being held hostage in the dungeons of Amed like we are in Kandira, went on a hunger strike on November 7 to protest the isolation imposed upon Mr. Abdullah Öcalan.

The isolation imposed upon Mr. Öcalan is not separate from the male state violence and policies of war imposed upon women. The women’s freedom struggle has always been the best antidote against the darkness spread by the AKP-MHP alliance, which has nothing to give the peoples of Turkey but blood and tears. This antidote is the women’s resistance against tyranny and their uprising.

Our comrade Leyla Guven has always been a defender of peace against war and light against darkness, with her resolve and resistance as a woman. We as the women in the Kandira Prison salute the hunger strike resistance Leyla Guven, with her life dedicated to the women’s freedom struggle, went on to protest the isolation imposed upon Mr. Abdullah Öcalan.

“WOMEN WILL END FASCISM”

We embrace the resistance Leyla started against the policies of war imposed upon the peoples of Turkey through the Imrali isolation.

We women will continue to stand against policies of isolation with our strength we derive from our historic experiences of resistance.

Women’s freedom struggle and women’s resistance will end fascism.

Leyla Guven’s demand is our demand.

The gates to Imrali must be opened and the isolation imposed upon Mr. Abdullah Öcalan must end at once.”
