Nine women’s organizations released a statement condemning the arrest of DTK co-chair and Hakkari Deputy Leyla Güven. Defining Güven's imprisonment as unlawful, women's organizations said, “We know very well that this decision aims to intimidate the social opposition, especially the Kurdish people and women in the person of Leyla Güven. This decision is null and void for us.”
"LEYLA GÜVEN IS THE WILL OF WOMEN"
The statement emphasized that Güven has devoted her life to the struggle of women and the Kurdish people and paid a price for this cause; “Leyla Güven, who has fought injustice and unlawfulness, is the will of us, women. No fascist government has been able to keep her and us away from our struggle and back down. These attacks of the AKP-MHP fascist government will not be able to halt Leyla Güven's struggle. The AKP-MHP male alliance, enemy of women, Kurds, laborers, nature, is taking revenge through more pressure and persecution as it flutters.”
“Let's remind them that many political powers are gone in this country, but we still remain. As Leyla Güven said, we are not going anywhere. This country is ours and we will continue to do politics, both inside and outside the prisons. No pressure or detention policy will stop us from fighting! We will not take a step back from fighting in every field, everywhere, outside. Because we take our strength from our righteousness. It will be your rotten male sovereign power that will lose.
Here we call out to the AKP-MHP alliance; The women, Kurds, laborers and other oppressed segments of society that you see as enemies will bring democracy and freedom to this country. You will go, we will stay. We do not submit to anti-Kurdish policies and misogyny."
