YPJ fighters: “We fight to liberate women”

YPJ fighters who participate in the Operation Cizire Storm against ISIS gangs say they fight for the freedom of all women, and Arab women in particular.

YPJ (Women’s Defense Units) fighters participate in the Operation Cizire Storm against ISIS gangs to the east of the Euphrates River.

YPJ fighter Zeyneb Derik said the following on her participation in the operation: “It is my first time taking part in a fight against ISIS gangs. As a young woman from Deir ez-Zor, I will fulfill our mission to liberate my homeland and the Arab women who have been living under ISIS tyranny for years. I will stand against the mindset that traps women in the home and the chains that enslave women.”

Fighter Viyan Derazor said: “I am taking part in the Operation Cizire Storm to liberate the Dashisha territory. I will participate in future operations as well. Like I was liberated, I will rescue oppressed women so they can have their rights.”
