Zenubiya Women's Community released a statement calling for urgent action for Warisha Moradi, Pakshan Azizi and Sharifa Mohammadi, who have been sentenced to death in Iran.
The Zenubiya Women's Community stressed that the Iranian regime is trying to silence the voice of truth and intimidate those who want freedom and justice through these death sentences, calling them “a black stain on the face of humanity”.
Highlighting the increasing determination to struggle, the statement said, “We believe that the voice of truth will be heard in the end.”
Zenubiya Women's Community called on human rights organizations and the international community to stand against these unjust sentences and emphasized the need to take urgent action for the three Kurdish women activists.
The statement concluded, “As Zenubiya Women's Community, we will not remain silent against this oppression. We will continue the struggle for freedom and justice until victory. We believe that our solidarity is our most powerful weapon and our unity is the secret of our strength.”
Pakshan Azizi
Kurdish journalist and activist Pakshan Azizi was detained in Tehran on August 4, 2023. She was arrested on November 11, 2023 on charges of “armed rebellion against the Iranian government”. On July 23, 2024, the Tehran Revolutionary Court sentenced her to death. The verdict was upheld by Iran's Supreme Judicial Council on January 8, 2025.
Warisha Moradi
On August 1, 2023, Warisha Moradi was detained by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards near the city of Sine. The Iranian judiciary sentenced her to death in hearings held on June 16 and July 4, 2024. Warisha Moradi’s lawyers stated that the judicial process was rushed and full of irregularities.
Sharifa Mohammadi
Women's rights advocate and activist Sharifa Mohammadi (45) was born in Urmia and resided in Rasht. She was detained in 2023 on charges of “propaganda against the state”. On July 4, 2024, she was sentenced to death by the Iranian Revolutionary Court. Following appeals, the death sentence was overturned on October 12, 2024. The 2nd Chamber of the Revolutionary Court in Rasht re-sentenced Sharifa Mohammadi to death on February 13, 2025.
