A European delegation visited the Department of Foreign Relations of the Autonomous Administration of Northern and Eastern Syria. The delegation included Toma Port, Member of Parliament from La France Insoumise; Dylan Boutifla, Foreign Relations Officer of the French Socialist Party; Danielle Simoni, Member of Parliament from the Green-Ecology Party; Lamîa Kirwanî, Representative of the French Socialist Party; and Genevieve Garrigues, Head of International Relations at the Paris Municipality.
The Department of Foreign Relations of the Democratic Autonomous Administration said that the European delegation was welcomed by co-chairs Îlham Ehmed and Fener El Giêt, along with deputy co-chairs Robêl Neho and Gulistan Elî.
The co-chairs of the Department of Foreign Relations expressed their satisfaction with the European delegation's visit, emphasizing the significance of its timing on such a historic day as the anniversary of the liberation of Kobanê.
During the meeting, discussions focused on the construction of a decentralized Syria and the establishment of a political solution that guarantees the rights of all groups, minorities, and communities in a new constitution.
European delegation condemns Turkish attacks
The meeting addressed the attacks by the Turkish state, which targeted civilians supporting the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the defense of Tishrin Dam, as well as the threats to the region's water and electricity security.
The Department of Foreign Relations of the Democratic Autonomous Administration called on legal, humanitarian, and international organizations to take serious steps to immediately halt these attacks and to ensure the protection of civilians and strategic infrastructure.
In addition, emphasis was placed on the importance of continuing the fight against violence and maintaining the joint cooperation between the SDF and International Coalition forces.
The European delegation also evaluated the Autonomous Administration’s experience positively, stating that this model could serve as a solution for Syria, the Middle East, and beyond.
The delegation expressed their support for the people of Northern and Eastern Syria and noted that they would report the situation in the region to their respective countries in an effort to halt these attacks.
