The 8th Kurdish Cultural Festival in Brussels started on 15 August with a traditional march and continues in Espagne Square, near the historic Grand-Place.
The festival attracted a great deal of interest and participation from Kurds from all four parts of Kurdistan, as well as tourists and city dwellers.
In addition to a tent with traditional Kurdish food, there was also a tent where films were screened and books, brochures and various cultural motifs were displayed. In addition, as every year, the haircloth tent welcomes guests on the festival grounds.
Many figures representing Kurdistan and its history were placed in the square. Educational activities were organised at a stand for children.
On the third day of the festival, artists including Xelîl Sadiqî and Hozan Seid took the stage and a large govend (Kurdish traditional dance) was performed. The cultural festival will end in the evening.
